But you will see some speks left behind as it doesn't cleanly clear up every ink drop. You can actually switch that off so it doesn't refresh on every screen change.
The screen refresh is not a glitch, that is how the device refreshes the display to minimise ghosting. It would be nice if it did dark mode, but they probably feel that if they added dark mode it would be one less thing that would differentiate it from the paperwhite model. The device ultimately is for just reading, so you don't need fast responses. It is no faster or slower than turning a page on a book. Also, the eink display is slow in general because it is moving ink particles back and forth, so that takes a little bit of time too. Any faster it would use up the battery much faster. It is a single core device which is slow because it is for reading.
